UUID Generator
Generate universally unique identifiers in one click — classic random v4 or the newer time-ordered v7 — one at a time or up to 1,000 in a batch, ready to copy or download as a text file. All randomness comes from your browser's cryptographic generator.
Processed on your device — files are never uploaded to Filesvo.
How to use Filesvo
- Choose the version — v4 (random) or v7 (time-ordered).
- Enter how many you need (1–1,000).
- Click Generate, then copy the list or download it as a .txt file.
v4 vs v7 — which to use
A UUID v4 is 122 bits of pure randomness — the universal default for IDs where order doesn't matter. The chance of two ever colliding is negligible for any realistic workload, which is why v4 is safe to generate anywhere without coordination.
UUID v7 (standardized in RFC 9562) puts a millisecond timestamp in the first 48 bits, so identifiers sort by creation time. That makes them noticeably friendlier to database indexes than v4 — new rows land at the end of the index instead of at random positions — which is why v7 is the modern recommendation for database primary keys.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- Are these UUIDs really unique?
- Statistically, yes. The random bits come from the browser's cryptographic generator, and the collision probability is so small that you'd need to generate billions per second for decades to expect a single duplicate.
- When should I prefer v7 over v4?
- Use v7 for database keys and anything you'll sort or range-scan by creation time. Use v4 when IDs should reveal nothing at all — v7's timestamp exposes when the ID was made.
- Can I use these in production systems?
- Yes — they're standard RFC 9562 UUIDs generated with crypto-grade randomness, exactly what a server-side library would produce.
- Are the UUIDs sent to a server?
- No. They're generated by your browser's built-in crypto API and never leave your device — no server ever sees them.
