How to use Filesvo
- Select or drop JPG, PNG or WebP files, or paste an image from your clipboard.
- Choose a percentage scale, or switch to Exact size and enter a width and/or height in pixels.
- Click Resize Images and download the results individually or all at once.
How resizing works
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of an image. Scaling down keeps images sharp and makes files much smaller — a photo reduced to 50% width and height has only a quarter of the pixels. Filesvo uses the browser's high-quality scaler, so downsized images stay smooth rather than jagged.
Enlarging is also supported up to 400%, but no resizer can invent detail that was never captured. An upscaled image has more pixels, not more information, so it will look softer than an original shot at that size — Filesvo tells you when an image was upscaled rather than pretending otherwise.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- Does resizing keep the aspect ratio?
- Yes, by default. Percentage mode always scales both dimensions equally. In exact mode, entering only a width or only a height computes the other side automatically, and with both entered plus 'Keep aspect ratio' enabled, the image is fitted within your box without distortion. Untick it to stretch to the exact dimensions.
- Will resizing reduce image quality?
- Scaling down discards pixels, which is exactly what you want for smaller files — the result stays sharp at its new size. JPG and WebP images are re-encoded at high quality (92% and 90%) after scaling; PNG output remains lossless.
- Can I enlarge an image?
- Yes, up to 400% or 20,000 pixels per side. Be aware that enlarging cannot add detail — the result will be bigger but somewhat soft. For print or serious upscaling, work from the original high-resolution file if you have one.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. Resizing runs entirely in your browser with native image APIs. Your files never leave your device.
