Processed on your device — files are never uploaded to Filesvo.

How to use Filesvo

  1. Select or drop JPG files, or paste an image from your clipboard.
  2. Set the WebP quality — 85% is a good balance of size and sharpness for most photos.
  3. Click Convert to WebP and download the smaller files.

JPG vs WebP

WebP compresses photographs more efficiently than JPG, so the same visual quality fits in a noticeably smaller file. Smaller images mean faster page loads, better Core Web Vitals and lower bandwidth bills — which is why WebP is now the default image format for much of the web.

All modern browsers display WebP, but some older desktop applications and services still expect JPG. Use WebP for the web; keep a JPG or original copy for everything else.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the photo and the quality you choose — typically 20–40% smaller than the source JPG at similar visual quality. Filesvo shows the exact before-and-after size for every file, and if an output ever comes out larger, it tells you that too.
Which browsers support WebP?
All current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge display WebP images. Creating WebP files in the browser also requires a modern browser — if yours can't encode WebP, the tool tells you instead of silently producing the wrong format.
Does converting JPG to WebP lose quality?
Both formats are lossy, so re-encoding costs a small amount of detail. At 85% quality the loss is usually invisible; raise the slider if you need maximum fidelity.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Conversion runs fully in your browser and your files never leave your device.
