How to use Filesvo
- Select or drop an image — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF all work.
- Click anywhere on the image to sample that pixel; click around to compare shades.
- Copy the HEX, RGB or HSL value with one click, or revisit a recent swatch.
About the three color formats
HEX (like #1a73e8) is the compact form used across CSS, design tools and brand guidelines — six hex digits encoding red, green and blue. RGB expresses the same three channels as decimal numbers from 0 to 255, and includes the alpha channel when the sampled pixel is partially transparent.
HSL describes the same color as hue (position on the color wheel in degrees), saturation and lightness — often the most intuitive form for adjusting a color, since 'a bit lighter' or 'less saturated' maps directly to one number. All three values describe the identical pixel; use whichever your workflow expects.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- How precise is the sampled color?
- You get the exact stored value of the pixel you click, read from the decoded image at its full native resolution — not from the scaled-down preview. On a zoomed-out display, neighbouring pixels may differ, so click carefully in detailed areas.
- Why does my JPG show slightly different colors than the original design?
- JPG compression subtly shifts colors, especially in gradients and at sharp edges. The picker reports what is truly in the file — if that differs from the design spec, the export introduced the shift, not the picker.
- Can I pick colors from a website screenshot?
- Yes — that's one of the most common uses. Screenshot the site, drop the file here, and click the elements whose colors you need.
- Is my image uploaded?
- No. The image is decoded and sampled entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
