Convert JSON to XML
Paste JSON or upload a .json file and get well-formed XML: object keys become element names, arrays become repeated elements, and every value is escaped so the output always parses. You choose the root element name. Nothing is uploaded to Filesvo.
Processed on your device — files are never uploaded to Filesvo.
How to use Filesvo
- Paste your JSON into the box, or upload a .json file.
- Set the root element name (default: root).
- Click Convert to XML, then copy the result or download it as an .xml file.
How JSON becomes elements
Each object key becomes an element of that name; nested objects nest, arrays repeat the element once per item, and null or empty values become self-closing tags. Characters with meaning in XML — angle brackets, ampersands, quotes — are escaped, so the output is always well-formed.
One honest limitation: JSON keys are not always legal XML names. A key like "first name" or "2024" cannot become an element, and rather than silently mangling it the tool stops and tells you which key is the problem, so you can rename it and know exactly what changed.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using open-source engines that run in your browser and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- How are arrays represented?
- By repeating the element — {"item": [1, 2]} becomes
1

2
. This is the standard XML idiom for lists.
- Why did I get an error about an element name?
- XML element names must start with a letter or underscore and cannot contain spaces. A JSON key like "first name" or "2024" is valid JSON but impossible as an XML tag — rename the key and convert again. Refusing loudly beats mangling your keys silently.
- Does the output round-trip back to the same JSON?
- Structurally yes, with one caveat: XML has no types, so numbers and booleans come back as strings when you convert the XML to JSON again.
- Is my data uploaded to a server?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device.
