Guides
All of these run on your browser's built-in engines — no uploads, no accounts, and honest refusals (like password-protected ZIPs) instead of silent failures.
Frequently asked questions
- Are hashes and checksums calculated on my device?
- Yes. Hashing runs in the browser, so you can check a downloaded file's checksum without handing that file to a third party — which rather defeats the point of verifying it.
- Which hash algorithms are available?
- MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512. MD5 and SHA-1 are there for matching published checksums and legacy systems; both are broken for security purposes, and the tool says so on the page.
- Can Filesvo open a password-protected ZIP?
- No, and it says so instead of failing quietly. Encrypted archives are detected and refused with a clear message, rather than producing an empty or corrupt extraction you would only notice later.
- Are QR codes and UUIDs generated offline?
- Yes. The QR and barcode images are drawn in your browser and the UUIDs come from the browser's own cryptographic random number generator. No third-party generator API is called, so the values are never seen by anyone else.
