HEIC to PNG Converter

Turn an iPhone HEIC photo into a PNG that any editor, document or upload form will accept — with no further compression applied to the pixels, and no upload.

or drag and drop HEIC/HEIF files here — you can also paste from the clipboard

Processed on your device — files are never uploaded to Filesvo.

How to use Filesvo

  1. Select or drop HEIC files (.heic or .heif).
  2. Click Convert to PNG. The first file waits for a one-time decoder download.
  3. Download the results.

About HEIC and PNG

PNG is the safe destination when a photo has to go somewhere fussy: a design tool, a document, a form that only names a handful of formats. It is lossless and universally readable, so nothing further is thrown away after the HEIC is decoded.

Expect much larger files. HEIC compresses aggressively and PNG not at all, so a 2 MB phone photo can easily become a 15 MB PNG. If you only need the picture to open somewhere and size matters, convert to JPG instead.

Decoding uses libheif, the reference open-source HEIF implementation, compiled to WebAssembly and shipped unmodified under its LGPL-3.0 licence. It is a 1.1 MB file — around 350 KB compressed in transit — downloaded once per visit, then cached and run on your device.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using open-source codecs compiled to WebAssembly that run inside the page and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

The engine is a static file your browser downloads once and then caches — the only network request this tool makes. It is used exactly as its authors published it; see the engines and their licences.

Frequently asked questions

Is HEIC to PNG conversion lossless?
The PNG stores exactly the pixels decoded from the HEIC, so no additional quality is lost. Whatever the phone's own HEIC encoder discarded when the photo was taken is gone for good, of course — no conversion can bring that back.
Why is the PNG so much larger than the HEIC?
HEIC uses modern lossy compression; PNG is lossless and stores every pixel. A tenfold size increase is normal and expected. Choose JPG instead if you want a small, shareable file.
Does this work on Windows and Android?
Yes. Filesvo brings its own HEIC decoder rather than relying on the operating system, so it behaves identically on Windows, Android, Linux, macOS and iOS.
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. The whole conversion runs inside your browser and Filesvo never receives your files.
