Filesvo

PDF to Excel Converter

Get the numbers out of a PDF and into Excel. Each page becomes a worksheet, with columns worked out from where the text sits on the page — so a printed table lands in real cells you can sort, filter and total.

How to use Filesvo

  1. Select or drop a PDF file.
  2. Click Convert to Excel and wait while each page is read.
  3. Download the .xlsx workbook and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc.

How the columns are found

A PDF has no idea what a table is — it only knows where each piece of text was drawn. Filesvo reads those positions across the whole page, finds the vertical lines that most rows share, and treats those as column boundaries. Text that lines up in the same band goes into the same column, row by row.

That works well on real tables: statements, invoices, price lists, exported reports. Free-flowing prose has no column structure to find, so it comes back one line per cell — the honest result rather than a guessed grid. PDFs of up to 50 pages get one worksheet per page; longer documents are stacked into a single sheet with a labelled separator row between pages so nothing is dropped.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using open-source PDF engines that run in your browser and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

Frequently asked questions

Will every table come out perfectly?
No. Columns are inferred from text positions, so clean, well-aligned tables convert well, while merged cells, wrapped text inside a cell and nested headers may need tidying up in Excel afterwards.
Are formulas recovered?
No. A PDF only contains the printed result, not the formula behind it, so you get values. Nothing that isn't in the file can be recovered.
What if the PDF is a scan?
A scan has no text layer, so there is nothing to place into cells. The tool says so instead of handing you an empty workbook.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read and the .xlsx workbook is written entirely inside your browser. The file never leaves your device.
