How to use Filesvo

  1. Select or drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Drag the crop box to position it, resize it from the corner handles, or type exact X, Y, width and height values in pixels. Pick 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9 to lock an aspect ratio.

How cropping works

Cropping keeps a rectangular region of the image and discards the rest. The pixels inside your selection are copied out unchanged in size — a 400 × 400 selection produces a 400 × 400 image, with no scaling involved.

JPG and WebP crops are re-encoded at high quality (92%) because those formats always re-compress on save; PNG crops stay lossless. If you need a specific output size as well, crop first and then run the result through the resize tool.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop to an exact pixel area?
Yes. The X, Y, width and height fields accept exact pixel values in the image's own coordinates, so you can reproduce a precise crop — the drag box and the numbers always stay in sync.
Does cropping reduce quality?
The selected pixels are copied 1:1 — nothing is scaled. PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP output is re-encoded at 92% quality, which is a very light touch, but it is one more encode of a lossy format.
What are the aspect ratio presets for?
1:1 is for profile pictures and square thumbnails, 4:3 matches classic photo proportions, and 16:9 matches widescreen video and social covers. With a preset locked, resizing the box keeps that shape; Free lets you drag any rectangle.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The preview, the crop box and the final crop all run in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
