What happens to the book

An EPUB is a ZIP archive of HTML chapters plus a spine that says what order to read them in. Filesvo opens the archive, follows that spine, and lays out each chapter in turn — headings, paragraphs, lists, block quotes and tables — beginning every chapter on a fresh page. Images stored in the book are embedded in the PDF rather than skipped.

An ebook is designed to reflow to whatever screen you read it on, while a PDF is a fixed page, so the two cannot match exactly. The publisher's fonts, cover design and CSS styling are replaced by a clean, consistent layout, and the interactive table of contents becomes ordinary chapter headings. What you get is the book's full text and pictures in reading order, in a format that prints.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using open-source engines that run in your browser and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

Frequently asked questions

Can it open a book I bought from a store?
Only if it is DRM-free. DRM-protected books from most stores are encrypted, and Filesvo neither can nor will remove that protection — the tool will tell you plainly if a book is protected.
Will the PDF keep the publisher's design?
No. The book's own CSS, fonts and cover styling are not applied; the text is re-laid out into a clean, readable document with your chosen page size and font size.
Are the pictures in the book included?
Yes. Images stored inside the EPUB are embedded in the PDF at their place in the text.
Is my ebook uploaded to a server?
No. The EPUB is unpacked and the PDF is built entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device.
