or drag and drop PNG files here — you can also paste from the clipboard

Processed on your device — files are never uploaded to Filesvo.

How to use Filesvo

  1. Select or drop PNG files, or paste an image from your clipboard.
  2. Set the WebP quality — transparency is preserved automatically.
  3. Click Convert to WebP and download the results.

PNG vs WebP

PNG files are lossless and often large, especially screenshots and detailed graphics. WebP supports the same transparency while compressing far more efficiently, so converted files are frequently 50% smaller or more.

For images published on a website, WebP is almost always the better choice. Keep the original PNG as your editing master and serve the WebP copy to visitors.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

Frequently asked questions

Is transparency kept when converting PNG to WebP?
Yes. WebP has full alpha-channel support, so transparent areas in your PNG stay transparent in the WebP output.
How much smaller will my PNG files get?
Screenshots and graphics often shrink by half or more; results vary with image content and the quality setting. Filesvo shows the exact size change for every converted file — honestly, including the rare case where a file gets larger.
Is the conversion lossless?
By default Filesvo uses lossy WebP encoding at high quality, which is what produces the large size savings. If you need pixel-perfect output, set quality to 100% for near-lossless results.
Do my files leave my device?
No. The whole conversion runs inside your browser. Filesvo never receives your files.
