Encode Text to Base64

Paste text — or upload a .txt file — and get its Base64 encoding, ready to copy or download. The text is converted to UTF-8 bytes first, so emoji, accents and every language encode correctly, matching what standard tools and libraries produce. Nothing is uploaded to Filesvo.

How to use Filesvo

  1. Paste your text into the box, or upload a .txt file.
  2. Click Encode to Base64.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a text file.

What Base64 is (and isn't)

Base64 represents binary data using 64 printable characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /), so it can travel safely through systems built for plain text — JSON strings, HTTP headers, data URLs, email. The output is about 33% larger than the input; that's the format's fixed cost, not something a better encoder can avoid.

One thing Base64 is not: encryption. Anyone can decode it instantly — it hides nothing. Use it to transport data through text-only channels, never to protect secrets.

Private by design

Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle emoji and non-English text?
Yes — the text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes before Base64, the standard approach, so any character works and any standard decoder recovers it exactly.
Why is the output longer than my input?
Base64 stores 3 bytes in 4 characters, so output is always about a third larger. The trailing = signs are padding that decoders use to know where the data ends.
Is Base64 encryption?
No — it's an encoding, freely reversible by anyone. It provides exactly zero secrecy; if you need confidentiality, you need actual encryption.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Encoding happens entirely in your browser — your text never leaves your device.
