Compress WebP Online
Make WebP files smaller by re-encoding them at a quality you control. Filesvo reports the exact size change for every file — including when a file is already as small as it gets.

How to use Filesvo
- Select or drop WebP files.
- Set the quality — lower means smaller; 75–85% is a good range for web use.
- Click Compress Images and download the results.
How WebP compression works
WebP is already an efficient format, so the gains come from choosing a lower quality than the original was encoded at. Re-encoding at 80% often halves files that were saved at very high quality, while photos exported at low quality to begin with won't shrink much further.
Compression here is lossy: each re-encode discards some detail, and quality lost is never recovered by re-encoding at a higher setting later. Filesvo is honest about results — when the recompressed file would be larger than the original, it says so and recommends keeping the original.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- Why didn't my WebP get smaller?
- It was probably already encoded near or below the quality you chose — there's nothing left to squeeze without visible damage. Filesvo tells you when that happens instead of handing you a larger file labeled 'compressed'.
- Does compression keep transparency?
- Yes. WebP supports alpha transparency, and re-encoding preserves it.
- What quality should I use?
- 75–85% suits most web images; below 60% artifacts become noticeable in photos. Try the default first and check the reported savings.
- Are animated WebP files supported?
- Only the first frame is re-encoded — canvas-based compression works on still images. Keep animated WebP files as they are.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. Compression runs entirely in your browser. Filesvo never receives your files.
