What a spreadsheet looks like as a PDF
Each sheet is read cell by cell and drawn as a bordered table, with the first row treated as the header. Columns are sized to fit the page, and long tables continue onto as many pages as they need. Cell values come out as they are displayed — text as text, numbers as numbers, dates as the date the cell holds.
A PDF is a fixed page, not a live grid, so the things that only exist inside Excel do not come across: formulas become their calculated values, and charts, images, conditional formatting, cell colours, merged cells and frozen panes are not drawn. If you need those, print to PDF from Excel itself.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using open-source PDF engines that run in your browser and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- Are formulas kept?
- The value each formula produced is kept, which is what a PDF can show. The formula itself is not — a PDF has nowhere to store one.
- Are charts and cell colours included?
- No. This conversion draws the cell values as a clean table. Charts, images and formatting such as fills and conditional colours are not reproduced.
- What happens to a workbook with many sheets?
- Every sheet is converted, each starting on a new page with its name as a heading, in the order they appear in the workbook.
- Is my workbook uploaded to a server?
- No. The .xlsx is unpacked and the PDF is built entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device.
