How to use Filesvo
- Select or drop image files, or paste an image from your clipboard.
- Read each file's dimensions, megapixels, aspect ratio, size and format from the table.
- Add more files to compare, or clear the list and start over.
Why image dimensions matter
Pixel dimensions determine where an image can be used: profile photos, print layouts, app store listings and ad platforms all specify required or minimum sizes. Checking the real dimensions before uploading saves rounds of rejected files.
The aspect ratio — the proportional relationship between width and height — decides whether an image fits a slot without cropping. A 16:9 image fills a video thumbnail exactly; a 4:3 or 1:1 image in the same slot gets cropped or letterboxed. Filesvo reduces each image's ratio to its simplest form so you can match it against requirements at a glance.
Private by design
Your files are processed directly in your browser using the browser's built-in image APIs and are not uploaded to Filesvo. Nothing is stored on our servers, because nothing ever reaches them.
Frequently asked questions
- Which formats can I check?
- JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF — anything your browser can decode. The dimensions come from actually decoding the image, not from reading file headers, so the numbers are what any app will really see.
- What are megapixels?
- One megapixel is one million pixels — width multiplied by height. A 4000 × 3000 photo is 12 MP. Megapixels are a quick way to compare overall resolution across images with different shapes.
- How is the aspect ratio calculated?
- The width-to-height ratio is reduced to its simplest whole-number form, such as 16:9 or 4:3. When an image doesn't reduce to a clean ratio, Filesvo shows the decimal ratio instead, like 1.85:1.
- Are my images uploaded to check their size?
- No. The images are decoded by your own browser and the numbers are computed on your device. Nothing is sent to Filesvo.
